I will be evaluating the film that my group and I created a how it conforms to the crime/thriller genre.
Through the research that we conducted in our essay we learned that the typical conventions of the crime/thriller http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_(genre) are found in the music and villain and the setting that it is in, to conform to the music we used a piece which is upbeat and dangerous to fit the fighting that goes on but as well as the low action scenes, as most crime thrillers the villain is either a drug dealer or is involved some how in organised crime, so we chose to put Vinnie as the villain he plays an aggressive youth who will get what he wants by using force an is not afraid of a scrap.
The setting we have chose to use is a very open setting which is a park, we have chosen to use this as this makes the setting for open meaning that literally anything could happen to the hero Hugo which adds an element of constant danger to the film opening keeping the viewer on edge all the time, we found from our research that people mostly watch crime thrillers for the action, so in our opening we placed a small fight scene so that the viewers know that there will be much fighting in the actual film, our film conforms to the crime thriller genre very well but also goes against it, it does this because there is an element of confusion in the.

This is the setting we used in the opening of our film, as I said this has been used, as it is a very open setting, which adds constant suspense to the film causing the viewer feel constantly on edge which keeps them constantly intrigued. also the setting is very dark and gloomy which adds to the film and fits the genre as crime thrillers are often set in very open places such as cities, but the attacks/murders rarely happen in broad daylight in clear view of others which in turn has developed the conventions on the crime thriller as the attack scenes in typical crime/thrillers often happen in the night or in a car chase scene.
My film opening represents many different social groupshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_class these social groups consist of thugs, middle class youth and couples, Hugo and Dave and middle class friends who like many teenage boys enjoy playing and watching football avidly, also Hugo has a girlfriend which brings in why couples would enjoy this film as they can relate to the film as they may have experienced the same problems of arguments and attempting to sort them out, the other social group that is included is thugs, Vinnie is a aggressive male who makes his living by robing and and assaulting people and he enjoys his job, thugs are found everywhere in day to day life and people have dealt with them throughout there lives.
The film company that is likely to distribute our film is going to be 20th century foxhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20th_Century_Fox, 20th century for have made many successfully crime thriller possible the biggest one they have made is the film taken, taken is a world wide know film and conforms to the typical attributes of a crime thriller as it is set in an open setting such as a city and has a sex slave owning villain and an ex cop type hero, the way that this film company caters for the demographics is that they conform very well to the typical conventions of that genre, allowing the viewer to always be able to understand the easily, fox also have many other sides to there company but one main one is there branch out into the televisionhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20th_Century_Fox_Television, this will help the promotion of my film because many adverts can be produced to promote my film which will help greatly with the sales of my design.
the target audience for this film would be a very wide audience as many people above the age of 12 would enjoy this film so the age range for this crime thriller would be from 12 all the way up to late 50's , the people that would enjoy this film would be people that enjoy action, but most of these films often have some sort of relationship element added to them so couples will also enjoy this film as they could relate to it, to fit to the conventions we have placed a relationship in our film also as we see the couple Hugo and Naomi chatting on the phone showing that there is a clear connection between these two people, to make sure that when people watch our film that get the same sense as they would with any other crime thriller we introduction the characters as they do in many other crime thrillers, we kept and element of mystery with the characters so they know what the film is about but not what could happen in this film which keeps the audience on edge at all times, we often used close ups to seen the emotion on the characters faces as the drama unfolded throughout the film, we also used many jump cuts so the film still keep a fast pace, and also using an up beat song in the film so that it fitted with the fast paced action and also fitted the conventions of the crime thriller.
in the creation of our film we used many technologies that range from simple tripods to programmes found on our apple macshttps://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_Technology, we used the tripod to create still shots do the viewer can have a clear view of what is happening, we used a programme that can be downloaded to any computer which is used to edit and and add effects and sound to the clip that will filmed, this allowed use to create a more professional finish and made our film look a lot better then it did before, we made a power point to inform our group what our film is going to be about and and how we will fit to the conventions of the crime thriller genre. i have developed an wide range of skills when creating my film, these skills include using i movie effectively to make the clip look professional, i have also developed my camera skills and how to use the correct camera shots in the right moments and how to perform them such as a dolly shot is mounted on a movable object that will follow the actors when the action is happening.
i have learnt much from creating the preliminary, by completing this task before i created my film opening it allowed me to learn how to efficactely use imoviehttp://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMovie so i could effectively make my film. My film opening looks more professional because i have used a wide range of effects, i used imovie to slow down trim and add additional effects to make the movie look much better, i have also used many camera angles such as close ups, mid shots, long shots, wide shots and using camera movements such as tracking and panning which allow the viewer to view our film very closely.
in our film opening we chose to kept the object that the villian is seeking from the hero a secret all we see is the villain to a set of keys but not being informed what it opens, we have doen this to keep an element of mystery to our opening to keep the viewers interested, the object of importance in a film is know as a mcguffin this is just the object that the villian and hero seekhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mcguffin.
